What’s Happening at Afterglo – March Edition

Who else is in denial that we’re already in March? It honestly feels like January and February didn’t even happen. There’s something a little anchoring though about the year properly getting underway. The “new year, new me” noise has settled, and we start to fall back into a more familiar routine (well… hopefully). Although with all the public holidays in the first half of the year, that can sometimes feel like a challenge! On that note, please keep reading for our Easter opening hours.

We’re all living in a world that constantly feels “on” always busy, always rushing, and somehow never quite enough time to do the things we want to do, or even the things we know are good for us (like Pilates 😉). But this year, I want to challenge you to prioritise yourself and make space for something that brings you joy. Something that allows you to switch off from the daily grind whether that’s the pressures of work, family life, or simply the mental load we all carry.

Many of our clients will tell you that committing to a regular Pilates routine does exactly that. Not only does it get you moving your body (which we all know we should be doing more of), but it also creates something else that’s just as important a sense of community, a sense of achievement, and a moment where the brain can finally switch off. And in today’s busy, chaotic world… those moments matter more than ever.

Hands up if you need more of that in your life 🙋‍♀️

If that sounds like you, you’re not alone. The hardest part for most people is simply starting.

Trying something new can feel intimidating.
What if I’m not good at it?
What if I look silly?

 They’re all completely valid thoughts.

One of the things I’ve always strived to create at Afterglo Pilates is an environment where those worries quickly become a thing of the past the moment you walk through the studio doors.

Because everyone starts somewhere and once you begin, you’ll often realise that Pilates becomes more than just exercise it becomes your hour to move, reset and take a little time just for you.

See you in the studio,

Shae x

Instructor Team Updates 🌸

Many of you will have noticed a few recent schedule updates around the studio.

Daisy has taken over our Monday evening classes, and we’ve been hearing great feedback already, a perfect way to start the week.

Our Sunday classes with Kristen have also been a huge hit and are often waitlisted, so if Sundays are your jam we recommend booking ahead (up to 28 days in advance). And a quick reminder if you can’t make a class, please remove yourself in time so someone else can enjoy the spot.

Our Thursday instructor Laura has unfortunately had to step away from the schedule, as the peak-hour commute from Clarkson proved difficult to sustain. We’re very grateful for the time she spent teaching at Afterglo and hope to see her back for covers in the future. In the meantime, Shae will be back teaching the Thursday 9:15am Align class.

Finally, our Tuesday 9:15am and 10:15am classes will see a change in April. Our much-loved OG instructor Hannah will be leaving us to travel around Australia with her family! We’ll miss her dearly and wish her the most amazing adventure. Hannah’s final class will be Tuesday 7 April.

Taking over these classes will be the highly qualified Giorgia, who many of you may remember from the Friday covers she did while Shae was in Japan. With her wealth of knowledge and vibrant teaching style (plus her beautiful Italian accent), we know you’ll love her classes.

Over 55’s Class – Register Your Interest 🤸🏼‍♀️

We’re exploring the idea of introducing a Thursday 10:15am class specifically for our over 55’s community.

This class would be designed for those who aren’t necessarily chasing the “burn”, but instead want to focus on safe, functional movement to help improve strength, mobility and overall quality of life.

It would also be a great opportunity to enjoy a social outlet, move the body in a supportive environment and leave feeling a real sense of achievement.

If you or someone you know might be interested, please email hello@afterglopilates.com to register your interest and stay in the loop.

🎉 Class Milestones 🎉

Each month we’ll be celebrating our class milestone achievers and this month we’re doing a little backdating, so there are lots of congratulations to go around.

Did you know you can check your class attendance in the Momence app? Go take a look… how many classes are you up to?

We love celebrating these milestones because they represent something really special you showing up for yourself and your health. It also means we get to see your familiar faces in the studio week after week (our favourite part).

This past month we saw our very first member reach 250 classes — wowee! A huge congratulations to Lorraine Waldeck. Lorraine, we are in awe of your commitment to staying strong and mobile in your 70s and beyond. Thank you for being such a valued part of our Afterglo community.

When you hit a milestone you might just receive a little Pilates-inspired giftfrom us to celebrate.

50 Classes – You should be proud 👏
100 Classes – Join the 100 Club and receive a pair of Afterglo grippy socks
250 Classes – Receive a MoveActive Pilates towel
500 Classes – Welcome to the Afterglo 500 Club and receive a special edition tee

When you’ve reached one of these milestones, make sure you let your instructor know so we can celebrate you properly.
